nPlay — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 November 2026

nPlay is a video player made by Nugezza Developer, a Nugezza company. This policy explains what nPlay does with information about you. The short version: what you watch stays on your computer. nPlay has no advertising and no analytics. You sign in with Nugezza ID so that your licence works, and that is all Nugezza receives from it. It talks to other services only to download the models you choose, to search the subtitle sites you use, and to look up which film a video is when it puts the film into its own folder.

What we collect

Only what your licence needs, described below. Nugezza Developer receives nothing about what you watch. nPlay has no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting and no tracking of any kind.

Your licence

From version 0.3.0, to use nPlay you sign in with Nugezza ID. The sign-in form inside nPlay’s own window comes straight from id.nugezza.com: nPlay never sees your password, and receives only your account’s identifier and name. Nothing of the sign-in stays in that form once it closes.

nPlay then sends nugezza.com the proof of that sign-in, your computer’s name, and a code made from your computer’s own identifier, so that the licence works on that computer. That code cannot be turned back into the identifier. nPlay keeps the licence and a refresh token in its own folder on your computer. A trial or a monthly or yearly plan asks Nugezza for the next period when it is due, using that token; bought once, nPlay never needs to ask again. What happens to your account’s information is in the Nugezza privacy policy.

What stays on your computer

Your films are played from where they are and are never uploaded. Translating subtitles and writing them from a film’s speech happen on your computer, with models stored on it.

nPlay keeps its settings, your history and where you stopped, the subtitles it found or wrote, your saved words, the keys you give it for subtitle sites and your licence in its own folder on your computer. Deleting that folder removes all of it.

Subtitle sites

To find subtitles online, nPlay searches subtitle sites: OpenSubtitles, SubDL, SubSource and Jimaku only once you add your own account or key for them, and Gestdown (TV episodes, no key needed) unless you turn it off in Accounts.

A search sends that site the title nPlay reads from the file’s name, the year or the season and episode, and the languages you want. OpenSubtitles also receives a fingerprint of the file, worked out from its size and its first and last 64 KB: it identifies the release, and the film cannot be rebuilt from it. Your key or sign-in goes only to the site it belongs to. Each site handles what it receives under its own privacy policy.

Film information (organising)

From version 0.2.3, nPlay can put each film into its own folder, named after the film, with its subtitles and poster. To find which film it is, its official title, year and poster, it asks Wikipedia and Wikidata (films) and TVmaze (series), and TMDB first if you add your own free TMDB key in Accounts. It sends them the title and year nPlay reads from the file’s name, or the film’s IMDb number when a subtitle site matched that very file, and for a series the season and episode. It then downloads the poster from the address they give. Like any request, those services see your computer’s internet address; each handles what it receives under its own privacy policy. Your files are moved only on your computer and are never uploaded. You can turn organising by itself off in Settings.

Model downloads

When you download a model, nPlay fetches it from where its makers publish it: the speech, voice and translation models from Hugging Face, and the language data for reading picture subtitles from GitHub. Like any download, those services see your computer’s internet address and which file it asked for. Every file is checked against a fixed SHA-256 before it is used.

Updates

nPlay does not look for updates by itself. New builds are published on its page on this site.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of nPlay sends anything new anywhere — for example, an update check — we will update this page and the date above before that version is released.

Paying

Payment happens on the Stripe checkout page, on this website, not in nPlay. We do not see your card number.
